Our Course will give you the practical experience you need to succeed in the world of professional wedding and event planning.
Event planning is an exciting profession, but it's not an easy one. When you plan an event as complicated as a wedding reception, you have to deal with many people — the bride, groom, their families, and numerous wedding vendors. And with all these people involved, problems are bound to crop up. That's why we feel it's so important for our students to get an education that goes beyond book learning.
In the first four Units of Sheffield's Complete Course in Wedding and Event Planning you get all the information you need about every aspect of event planning. Then you'll complete two Units that consist entirely of hands-on activities that were created by professional planners to reflect the challenges they face on a regular basis. And because these Projects ask you to handle a variety of real-world challenges, we call this portion of the Course the Virtual Internship.
During your Internship, you will respond to case studies that ask you to deal with issues concerning etiquette, logistics, contracts, client management, designs, and color schemes. Additionally, we will guide you through several projects in which you will research and evaluate the wedding vendors and career opportunities in your geographical region.
Best of all, your Virtual Internship Projects will be evaluated by one of Sheffield's instructors, someone with extensive experience in professional event planning. These evaluations will include thoughtful comments on what you did right, and areas for improvement. And, as always, if you need help with your Projects you can contact your Student Advisor for assistance — as often as you need to.
The Sheffield Virtual Internship experience is the next best thing to actually working in a wedding planner's office — and when you finish your final project you will feel confident handling any situation that might crop up. You will also have experience that will make you stand out in a job interview, or at a client presentation.
